  • Orange Shirt Day & National Day for Truth and Reconciliation

    ORANGE SHIRT DAY

Wednesday, September 27th – this will be a dress down day (no uniform), but in order to participate, students must wear something orange – this could be an orange shirt, orange pants, orange shoes, etc.  It could also simply be an accessory that is orange.  Please note that as always, the students must be dressed appropriately with no spaghetti straps, no short shorts, no ripped jeans and no clothing with inappropriate logos or sayings.  Please send $2 – this will go to the Archbishop’s Fund for Truth & Reconciliation.

NATIONAL DAY FOR TRUTH & RECONCILIATION

Monday, October 2nd – NO SCHOOL

During the week, time will be spent learning about Truth and Reconciliation in age-appropriate ways.  Using story books and resources recommended to us from the CISVA, students will learn about how every child matters.

  • Rosary Group

Rosary group meets every Thursday at 8.30 to 9.00am in the school library. Please join us to pray for our school community. Everyone welcome.

  • Endow's The Science of Love Study

Have you ever wanted to learn more about St. Thérèse of Lisieux?  She once said, “Remember that nothing is small in the eyes of God.”  For more than a century, many have been inspired and encouraged by her writings, and the witness of her simple but extraordinary life.  All women are invited to join us as we learn more about her “Little Way” through Endow’s newest study.  Endow (endowgroups.org) is a study program for women.  With a balance of rich content and thought-provoking discussion questions, Endow is a great option for any women looking to cultivate friendships in the community and grow in their faith.

We will gather bi-weekly for 8 Wednesday sessions, starting on September 27th and ending on January 31st, from 12:30-2:30 p.m. in the St. James Church meeting room.  Cost is $20 USD for a digital copy or $40 USD for a hard copy.  For more information and to register, contact Eileen Gaudet at eileenmgaudet@gmail.com.

  • Parent Participation

  • Thunder Community Meal Train - Volunteers needed!

Wouldn’t it be nice to offer support to a fellow Thunder family who is going through a challenging time? We would like to create a network of individuals who are interested in being on a meal train email list to support families throughout our school who may need a helping hand for one reason or another. If a request has been made, then those volunteers that have added their name to our list would receive an email asking them to sign up for a specific date to make and deliver a meal. Please note that this is not a parent participation activity, but just a nice gesture to provide support for other families in our school community. If you are interested in having your name added to our list, please email Tasha at community@stjameselementary.ca
