  • Consignment - Toonie Sale

Our Consignment Store is overflowing with uniform pieces.  As you watch your children grow and outgrow their clothes, or as you begin to anticipate the next school year, this is the time for a Consignment Blow Out Toonie Sale!  Any and all uniform pieces that have been donated to the school will be on sale for $2 per item.  This sale will take place on Monday, June 7th and Tuesday, June 8th from 1:30 – 3:00pm in front of the school.  We will follow all COVID protocols, and more information about the sale will come out soon.

As we prepare for this sale, if you have uniform pieces that you would like to donate for another family to use, you may drop off your items at the school from May 17th – June 4th.  The items must only be uniform pieces, they must be in good condition, and they must be clean.  Please place your items in a bag and drop them off inside the front door of the school.

If you have previously given the school uniform pieces that you want sold for a particular price, these items will not be included in our Consignment Blow Out Toonie Sale.

  • Overdue Library Books

We are still missing quite a few books from our Library, and are asking for your help.  Please check your house, and have your children check their bedrooms and backpacks for our school’s Library books.  Please return the books that you find as soon as possible so that they can be entered into our new database.  Next week we will send notes home regarding any remaining outstanding books; however, all we will be able to tell you is the number of books your child has taken out and not returned.

  • School Calendar - Updates and Changes

St. John Brebeuf has made a few changes to their school calendar, which has a ripple effect on our school.  Please note the following:

    • May 21st – this is a special day for the Grade 12 retreat, and there will only be Grade 12 students at school.  While the busses will be running, there will only be Grade 12 students on the busses and at the bus stops, so this may mean that there are no students at some of the bus stops.  Please be aware that the younger children could be waiting at their bus stop by themselves, and dropped off by themselves in the afternoon
    • May 27th – this is a new early dismissal day at SJB only.  Please note that their students will be dismissed at 12:00pm, but we will be in session the full day

We have made a change to our school calendar.  Please note that our Planning Day will now be on Monday, June 14th, so there is no school for students.  We will now have a regular school day on Monday, June 21st.

  • Victoria Day - No School

Monday, May 24th is Victoria Day.  Please note that the school will be closed on May 24th for the long weekend.

  • Zumbathon 2021

Our first ZUMBATHON has come and gone, and was a fantastic day for the entire St. James & St. Ann’s community.  The students rotated through Zumba and other stations to keep them active through the morning.  We hope many of you managed to join the livestream and Zoom for some of the event.  It takes a lot of help and support to put on the Zumbathon fundraiser and the Parent Fundraising Association would like to thank all of the staff, parents and students who shared of their time, talent and treasure to help make this day a success.

Just a reminder that Pledge Collection Days continue all this week:  MAY 17-21.  Please bring in your Zumbathon pledge sheet and money raised on one of those days to be eligible for Zumbathon prizes.  Our Prize Raffle Draw will happen in early June.  Check out the fantastic prizes you could win by clicking here

We are still accepting Zumbathon pledges online through our website until May 21 by clicking here.  Thank you for your support.  Together we can raise $25,000!

We also want to thank Agrifair, Abbotsford Bandits, Cabela’s, Canadian Tire, Castle Fun Park, Columbia Business Systems, Dairy Queen, Fresh Co., Gearbots, London Drugs, Mucho Burrito, Panago, Purdy’s, St. Ann’s Parish, Splitz Gymnastics, Superstore, The Chow Family, The Dos Santos Family, The Laflamme Family, The Legaspi Family, The Steinbichler Family, Mrs. Sask and many more anonymous families for donating some awesome prizes and items for our event!

  • Daily Health Check App

The Province of BC has created a new Daily Health Check App for parents to use each morning to assess the health of their child before they head off to school.  This is a fun and interactive way to find out if you should stay home until you feel better, or get further health information by calling 811.  To use the Daily Health Check App on your desktop computer, please click here.  To download the app on your mobile device, please click here.

  • Daily Health Check

Parents are asked to complete a Daily Health Check of their children each morning before they come to school.  Please assess your child for the following symptoms:

    • Fever
    • Chills
    • Cough or worsening of chronic cough
    • Shortness of breath
    • Loss of sense of smell or taste
    • Diarrhea
    • Nausea and vomiting

If your child has one of those symptoms, excluding fever, they should stay home for 24 hours from when the symptom started.  If the symptom improves, they may return to school when they feel well enough.  If the symptom persists or worsens, seek a health assessment.  If your child has two or more of the symptoms, or they have a fever, you should seek a health assessment for them.
