Thunder News Flash – July 3-7

July 01, 2017
  • Last News Flash

This will be the last News Flash for the 2016-2017 school year.  On behalf of all of the staff we would like to thank you for a great year, and all of your treats, gifts and good wishes for a great summer.

  • School Office

The school will be open from July 4th – July 14th from 8:00am to 3:00 pm most days, however there are some days when the school office may be closed as staff are in meetings off site, etc., such as Friday, July 7th.  Please note that if you are wanting to come by the school and need assistance at the office, call first to make sure that someone is available to take care of your needs.

  • Families Leaving the School

There are a number of families who are leaving our school this year, as their children move on to high school or new adventures.  We wish you all nothing but happiness and success, wherever life is taking you.  Please scroll down to the bottom of this News Flash and “unsubscribe” yourself from our mailing list.

  • Wedding Choir Practice

Thank you so much to all of the participants in Miss Macedo’s wedding choir.  Your hard work and beautiful voices are such a gift and will make her wedding so special and memorable.  There will be two rehearsals coming up in the second week of July – Monday, July 10th and Wednesday, July 12th from 6:00 – 7:30pm at the school.  We will meet at the front of St. James School.  Please try your best to attend these rehearsals.  Our violinist will be joining us for these rehearsals.  Then, the wedding will take place at St. Helen’s Church in Burnaby on Saturday, July 15th.  Please wear your school uniform with your sweater.  There will be air-conditioning in the church, so everyone will be quite comfortable.

  • Thank You From Mrs. Sask

I wanted to take this opportunity to thank all of you for your support over the last month.  There have been so many Masses celebrated, gifts, well wishes and prayers that it has been quite overwhelming.  While all of this is most appreciated, it is the gift of your prayers that is most important.  I firmly believe that the prayers of children are especially powerful, so I would ask that your family continues to pray for my husband, Martin, as our journey with his Cancer treatment continues.  It has been an absolute honour to serve as your principal for the last six years, and I hope that our paths cross again in the near future.
