    Name the Update

As you are aware we are changing the way that we send out information to parents. We are now sending out the “Weekly Update” on Sunday afternoons and these updates will include the information that you will need for the week ahead. However, since we are embarking on this new adventure in communication, we believe that the “Weekly Update” also needs a new name. So, here is your chance to put the creative side of your brain to work, and help us come up with a new name by sending in your suggestions by email to tsask@cisva.bc.ca. The name could be based on our school name, the fact that we use the word “Thunder” to describe our sports teams, spirit wear, etc., or you could really step outside the box. We will be accepting your input until Thursday, September 15th, and will unveil the winning selection in the “Weekly Update” that comes out on Sunday, September 18th. This challenge is open to everyone and anyone who has a great idea. The lucky winner will be rewarded with the satisfaction of a job well done, and seeing their creativity posted on our school website and emailed to the entire school community each week. May the best “name” win!

  • Meet the Teacher

Meet the Teacher Night was held on Wednesday, September 7th and it was a very successful evening with a large group of parents in attendance.  At the meeting there were updates and much information shared about this school year.  If you were unable to attend, a brief summary of the most important information that was shared will be sent home this week with your oldest child.

  • Hot Lunch

The Hot Lunch program will begin this week with hotdogs on Tuesday, September 13th.  Unfortunately no late orders can be accepted.  If you did not get your order in on time this month, please watch for the next order form to be sent home in October.

  • Comfort Kits and Id. Tags

This is just a reminder that the student comfort kits and the Id. tags are due back at the school on Friday, September 16th. The comfort kits will then be sorted and moved out with our other earthquake supplies. Please make sure that you return these two very important items that make up part of our earthquake plan.

    recycledplastic-286x300

Ever wonder what happens to the drink containers? We have recycled them and used the money to help Night Shift. Night Shift works with the homeless and used the money to purchase jam, peanut butter, iced tea and hot chocolate. Let’s keep it up! Thank you.
