Orange Shirt Day
Orange Shirt Day, recognized on September 30, is a day for Canadians to honour Indigenous children who were sent to residential schools and to remember that Every Child Matters. By wearing orange, we show our commitment to reconciliation, respect, and building a future of hope and understanding. As a Catholic school community, we join together in prayer and action to walk in solidarity with our Indigenous brothers and sisters. This year we will honour Orange Shirt Day on Monday, September 29th. The Grade 6 class will lead a special assembly at 11am. Parents are most welcome to attend!
This will also be a full dress down day and we encourage students to wear anything they have that is orange. This could be an orange shirt, orange pants, orange shoes, etc. It could also simply be an accessory that is orange (a bracelet, a sticker, a necklace, a hair band, etc). Please note that as always, the students must be dressed appropriately with no spaghetti straps, no short shorts, no ripped jeans and no clothing with inappropriate logos or sayings. Students not wearing orange should be in school uniform, and will be given a sticker reflecting Orange Shirt Day.There is no school on Tuesday, September 30th, but you are asked to spend time at home focusing on Truth and Reconciliation. Information and resources are available from the National Centre for Truth and Reconciliation –https://nctr.ca/education/

Terry Fox Run - We finished It!
A heartfelt thank you to all our students, families, and staff for your incredible participation in this year’s Terry Fox Run. Together, we honoured Terry’s legacy of hope, courage, and determination while raising awareness and support for cancer research. Your enthusiasm, generosity, and school spirit made this event a wonderful success. We are so proud of our community for coming together to walk, run, and give in the spirit of “I run for hope.”

Did you know our school has a Uniform Consignment Program? Families are welcome to donate gently used uniform pieces that no longer fit, and other parents may purchase them at a reduced cost. This is a wonderful way to recycle, save money, and support one another in our school community. If you would like to donate items or browse what is available, please contact – consignment@stjameselementary.ca
