  • Pick Up/Drop Off Lane

Things have been going quite well with our before and after school procedures.  Just one reminder – please remember to pull up as far as you can in the lane before stopping your vehicle.  Pulling up right to the white flag pole would certainly help with the back up of vehicles on Townline Rd.  Please remember the drop-lane is to be used for quick drop-offs and pick-ups.  If you need to park and get out of your vehicle, please park in the parent lot.  Lastly, when walking with little ones in the parking lot, please aim to walk hand in hand.  Thank you in advance for your cooperation!

  • Consignment Store

If you are looking for a particular uniform piece from the Consignment Store, please email the parents who run the store at consignment@stjameselementary.ca and let them know what the item is and the size that you need.  The parents will then look to see if they have that item in stock, respond to your email, and meet you at the school at a designated time.

  • Rainy Weather Clothes

We are committed to taking the students outside as much as possible, but we need your assistance.  Please ensure that your children have good outdoor footwear, preferably boots, on days when it is rainy.  While umbrellas seem like a good solution for the rain, they create problems when the students are running around, as well as lining up.  The people around them often get soaked from the water running off of them, and accidentally hit with the edges.  A good waterproof jacket with a hood is a great investment to help us with our “Wet Coast” weather.

  • Thunderwear Thursdays! - orders due September 22

Once again, Thunderwear can replace any or all of the uniform pieces every week on Thunderwear Thursdays! We have hoodies, t-shirts and jogging pants. An online order was emailed home last week and included a garment sizing chart. Simply complete the on-line google order form: https://forms.gle/Z4ZxSjt9iEBwDyRq9 by 3pm Friday, September 22. Payment can be made by direct debit or handing in a cheque to the office by September 22. More information can be found on the online order form.

Join us for our Terry Fox Run!

This year we will host a Terry Fox run in support of cancer research on Thursday Sept 28. Please bring a Toonie for Terry.
Kick off assembly in the Gym at 1:00pm
Followed by a 42min run/walk on our back field.

Parents and siblings are welcome to join for the assembly and walk/run but please avoid using the playground until the run is over.  Just a reminder that there are no dogs on school property.

  • Daily Health Check

Just a reminder that it is important to complete a Daily Health Check each day before sending your children to school.  If they are sick, please keep them home until they feel better.

  • Endow's The Science of Love Study

Have you ever wanted to learn more about St. Thérèse of Lisieux?  She once said, “Remember that nothing is small in the eyes of God.”  For more than a century, many have been inspired and encouraged by her writings, and the witness of her simple but extraordinary life.  All women are invited to join us as we learn more about her “Little Way” through Endow’s newest study.  Endow (endowgroups.org) is a study program for women.  With a balance of rich content and thought-provoking discussion questions, Endow is a great option for any women looking to cultivate friendships in the community and grow in their faith.

We will gather bi-weekly for 8 Wednesday sessions, starting on September 27th and ending on January 31st, from 12:30-2:30 p.m. in the St. James Church meeting room.  Cost is $20 USD for a digital copy or $40 USD for a hard copy.  For more information and to register, contact Eileen Gaudet at eileenmgaudet@gmail.com
  • Hospital Masses

At St. James, we believe in fostering a spirit of compassion and unity within our community. One way we do this is by coming together each month to participate in the Hospital Masses.  The next Hospital Mass will be on Sunday, September 24th, at Abbotsford Regional Hospital at 4PM.

Some of the upcoming Mass dates are already marked on the calendar, and we warmly invite you to join us throughout the year. Your presence is not only a source of comfort and strength to those at the hospital but also a beautiful expression of our shared values.

The hospital staff and families are incredibly grateful for the support our community provides. Your participation in these monthly Masses is a meaningful way to show that we care.  Let’s continue to spread warmth and gratitude together. We look forward to seeing you at the upcoming Masses.  What a wonderful way to live out our theme, “Living Our Faith”!

  • Feeding the Futures

The BC Government is beginning a program called “Feeding the Futures” that will help Independent schools in the province provide food to students.  Our school is looking into starting a Breakfast Program in January, and until then we will have a large bowl of fruit in front of the office filled with apples, oranges and bananas.  Anyone who would like to have one of those fruits is invited to take one.  Lastly, if your child does not have a lunch, please let the office know and we can provide a lunch of cheese and crackers, granola bars or protein bars.
