Thunder News Flash – September 19-23

September 16, 2016
  • Name the Update

Thank you to everyone who provided some great suggestions for a new name for what once was our “Weekly Update”.  Congratulations to the Chow Family – their suggestions inspired our new name, the “Thunder News Flash”.  Watch for this news flash to be sent out by email weekly on Sundays.

  • ALPHA's The Parenting Children Course

St. Ann’s Parish’s Young Family Group invites you to join them for ALPHA’s The Parenting Children Course.  This course is for parents or caregivers of children aged 0 – 10 years, and will begin on Friday, October 14th from 6:30 – 9:00pm.  For more information, please see the poster on the bulletin board in the main hallway of the school.

  • Red Cross Babysitting Course

The Red Cross Babysitting Course will be held at our school on Mondays from 2:40 – 4:40pm beginning on September 26th.  This course is available for students who are a minimum of 10 years of age by the start date of the program, and we must have a minimum of 16 students registered for the program to go ahead.  The program teaches the basics of babysitting, rights and responsibilities, getting along with participants, holding, diapering, feeding, bedtime, toys and activities, accident prevention and handling emergencies.  The cost of the program is $50/student.  In you are interested in having your child participate in this program, please pick up a Registration Form at the school office.  We must have all registrations in by Monday, September 19th.  Please note that at present we only have 4 Registration Forms returned, and we are in danger of having to cancel this very worthwhile program.

  • Comfort Kits and Id. Tags

This is just a reminder that the student comfort kits and the Id. tags were due back at the school on Friday, September 16th. The comfort kits will be sorted and moved out with our other earthquake supplies this week. Please make sure that you return these two very important items that make up part of our earthquake plan by Monday, September 19th if you have not done so already.

  • Hospital Outreach Mass

All students and their families are welcome to join us at the Abbotsford Regional Hospital for the Hospital Outreach Mass on Sunday, September 25th at 4:00pm.  The Mass takes place in the Chapel on the main floor.  Students in Grades 6 and 7 are invited to be the readers.  If you would like to be a reader, please arrive at 3:45pm.  Mrs. Wakely will be there to help supervise and prepare the volunteers.  We also appreciate lots of young voices to help with the singing!  We hope to see many of you there.
