  • Happy Thanksgiving

We would like to wish all of you a wonderful Thanksgiving and a relaxing long weekend!  May you find opportunities to make beautiful memories with family and friends.  Here is a lovely Thanksgiving prayer:

Heavenly Father, on Thanksgiving Day, we bow our heads to you and pray.  We give you thanks for all you’ve done, especially for the gift of Jesus, Your Son.  For beauty in nature, Your glory we see, for joy and health, friends and family.  For daily provisions, Your mercy and care, these are the blessings You graciously share.  So today we offer this response of praise, with a promise to follow You all of our days.  Amen.

  • Water Bottles

It is important for your children to keep well hydrated throughout the day.  Unfortunately, many children are coming to school without a water bottle.  Please ensure that your child comes to school each day with a water bottle, which can then be refilled using our water bottle filling station, if necessary.

  • No School - October 10th and 21st

There will be no school on Monday, October 10th as we all celebrate Thanksgiving with family and friends.  There is also no school on Friday, October 21st for the Provincial Pro-D Day.

  • Attendance Notes

The School Office is still missing a number of attendance notes.  These notes are required each year for our attendance audit, which takes place in May.  If we still require a note from your family, an attendance note was sent home with your child on Thursday.  Please check your child’s backpack to see if they have an attendance note for you to sign.

  • Drills & Fire Safety Month

Did you know that October 9 – 15 is Fire Protection Month?  Please spend some time with your family to discuss a fire safety plan.

The beginning of the year is full of new routines!  The same is true when it comes to safety.  Each year, schools are required to perform several fire, earthquake, lockdown and shelter in place drills.  Last week we conducted a fire drill and reviewed fire safety.  This week, our new school liaison officer visited to review lockdown procedures.  Today we had a lockdown drill and the students were excellent.  The Constable was very impressed. All safety procedures were followed perfectly.  Over the next two weeks, we will have an earthquake drill and a shelter in place drill.  We thank our Fire Marshall and School Liaison Officer for assisting us with these drills throughout the year.  Practice makes perfect.  Our School Liaison Officer is new to the SJA and SJB school communities this year.  He is hoping to introduce himself to the students sometime over the next few weeks.  Lastly, our earthquake bins are all full, thank you for your assistance with this.  This weekend may also be a good time to review earthquake kits for families.
