Thunder News Flash – November 18, 2023

Students and staff are busy working on this year’s Christmas Musical.    We will have a 1pm and 7pm performance on Thursday, December 21st for families.  We look forward to seeing many of you at this Christmas Concert.

It is that time again.  If you have a sibling who will be entering our school next year, please email the office at office@stjameselementary.ca for a sibling package that will be sent home.

We are excited to offer a special performance of the Christmas Musical this year for the Seniors of our 4 parishes and grandparents of the students in the school.  We will be offering a light lunch at 12:00, followed by a performance of our Musical at 1pm.  We are looking forward to welcoming our treasured seniors from our community to help us celebrate the Advent season.  This special lunch and performance is open to SENIORS ONLY.  Please RSVP by calling the school office at 604-852-1788 or email the office at office@stjameselementary.ca by December 8th.  No late RSVP’s will be accepted as we will be ordering the food based on the RSVP numbers.  Doors open at 11:45. Fundraisers: What are we raising money for?

Fundraising is an essential part of every Catholic school’s budget which helps offset costs so that we can keep tuition at an affordable level for all families.  In addition, fundraising enables St. James and St. Ann’s to complete projects and purchase items that are needed and benefit all students.  

Thank you to everyone who supported our recent Movie Night fundraiser.   We raised almost $3000 for the school!!!  A special thanks goes out to all of the members of the PFA and volunteers who helped make this evening such a success!

Shopfunds Gift Card Fundraiser due November 23: 

Our current fundraiser, ShopFunds Gift Cards, is underway.  This is a wonderful way to support St. James & St. Ann’s School while shopping AND with no extra cost to you! 

• You pay face value for the gift cards!

• Many different participating retailers:  grocery stores, entertainment options, gas stations and so many more!

• For each gift card purchased, retailers offer a 3-10% kickback to our school.

• Many ways you can use gift cards: purchase them to use at your favourite grocery store, purchase them for the retailers you plan to buy Christmas gifts from or use them as your gifts!

More information, including how to order online (https://munchalunch.com/schools/stjamesandstanns/) and a list of participating merchants was emailed home yesterday.  Please complete your order by 3pm Thursday, November 23.  Gift Cards will be ready at the school sometime between December 4-8.

Thank you for your support with this opportunity to raise money for our school!

Please remember that there are a lot of moving vehicles in the parking lot.  For safety, please be sure that you walk beside your children as they cross the parking lot.  Children are still learning important parking lot safety rules and they need your example right beside them.  As well, this will help prevent unfortunate accidents that could happen if children are moving in a space where cars are also moving.  Thank you in advance for your assistance with this.
