  • Revised Communicable Disease Plan and Daily Practices

Welcome back to school after our Spring Break.  As I’m sure you are aware, the Public Health Officer in BC, Dr. Henry, made some significant changes to the Public Health Orders related to COVID-19, and the Guidelines for K-12 Schools were quickly updated.  As a result, our school’s Communicable Disease Plan was revised and emailed to parents on March 23rd.  If you did not receive this revision, please check your Spam or Junk folders, or you can also find it on the school’s website by clicking here.  Even with the changes, the following are still very important:

    • complete a daily health check with your child – click here to see the most up-to-date information regarding this
    • monitor your children regularly for symptoms of illness – if they are sick, they should stay home.  Please click here for information about testing for COVID-19
    • follow all of the provincial restrictions that are currently in place – please click here for the latest information
    • if you would like your child to wear a mask at school, please ensure they bring at least one mask with them to school each day
    • seek reputable sources of information about COVID-19, such as the BCCDC, including how to protect yourself, your family and your community, and what to do if you suspect you have the virus by clicking here

As we move from Public Health Orders to monitoring our own health, and taking action if necessary, it is very important that we continue to be calm and kind to each other.  Mutual respect for the different choices that people make over the next few months, and a Christ-like attitude, will help us have a wonderful finish to this school year.

  • Hip Hop Week

From Monday, March 28th to Friday, April 1st, the students at the school will once again be participating in Hip Hop dance lessons as part of the P.E. program.  Due to the Gathering and Events Order, which is still in place, we are unable to have parents join us in person for the performance at the end of the week.  Instead, on Friday, April 1st the instructors from 1 Vibe Entertainment will once again be filming the students and putting together a video to share with our school families.  More information will be coming home next week regarding the “simple” costume your child should wear to school on Friday.

  • Work Bee - April 9th

The next Work Bee will take place at the school on Saturday, April 9th from 9:00am – 2:00pm. This is a great way for parents to accumulate 5 hours towards their Parent Participation commitment.  Please complete a daily health check before coming to the Work Bee, and stay home if you are feeling unwell.  Please also bring gloves for both inside and outside work, as well as any small, cordless gardening tools you are able to bring.  Your work around the school, both inside and outside, is much appreciated.

  • Next Early Dismissal Day - April 6th

Our next early dismissal day for our monthly staff meeting will take place on Wednesday, April 6th.  As always, the students should bring a snack and lunch to school that day, and they will be dismissed at 12:55pm.

  • Zumbathon - May 13th, 2022 - Request For Prize Donations

We would like to introduce our biggest fundraiser of the year:  Zumbation 2022, which will be held on Friday, May 13th!  (Please note the date change.)

This year we will once again have a Prize Raffle for the Zumbathon Prizes.  Students earn 1 raffle ticket for every $10 that they personally raise in pledges.  The students can then use these raffle tickets to put into the prize raffle of their choice.

The PFA has already started asking many businesses to donate prizes.  We are also asking the school families and businesses if they would consider donating a new item or cash to purchase a prize, so that we have a variety of prizes for all ages and interests.  If you are interested in donating a prize, please contact Jasmin Laflamme by clicking here.  Thank you for your consideration!

We look forward to sharing more information about Zumbathon with you after Spring Break, including what specific project we will be raising funds for this year!
