  • Final June Events

School is almost at an end!  Here are the reminders for the final week of school!

Rag & Bag Day – Wednesday, June 25th:

Each student is asked to come to school on June 25th with a rag and a sturdy bag.  They will use the rag to wash down their desk and chair, and help to clean up their classroom.  The bag will be used to pack up and bring home all of their belongings, as the school year comes to a close the next day.

Last Day of School – Thursday, June 26th:

Thursday, June 26th is the last day of school.  We will attend Mass as a school, and we invite parents to join us for this special celebration.  After Mass we will go back to the school to watch our year-end slide show, and then the students return to their classrooms to collect their final Progress Reports.  It is always a bittersweet day at school, but we look forward to the many adventures that are to come!  Dismissal will be at 11:30.

  • Final School Mass

As we come to the end of this school year, we want to voice our gratitude to God for the good things He has done for us, and praise Him for all who have shared in the work of this school.  We will be celebrating our final school Mass on Thursday, June 26 at 9:00am.   Our Grade 7 class will be passing candles to our Grade 6 class as a symbol of passing the duties leadership to the students.  It is also an opportunity to say a heartfelt goodbye to families and staff leaving our school.  We invite all families and friends to join us!  This is one last opportunity to come together in community before the summer break!

“God of wisdom, we thank you for all the gifts you have given us throughout this school year. We praise you for giving us life, for saving us in Christ, and for choosing us to be your people.”

  • Safe Driving

Once again we would like to remind parents to please slow down and drive safely in both the pick-up / drop-off lane and in the parking lot.  We have children moving about who do not always watch carefully when crossing these spaces.  This is especially important in the final week of school, when students are both distracted and excited.  Please slow down and do not pass other cars – especially in the pick-up / drop-off lane.  The safety of our students is a top priority!

  • Mission in the North and Freezie Sales

Bishop Hector (Bishop of Whitehorse Diocese) has asked for a group of parishioners to continue our Mission work to some of the Parishes in Northern B.C.

We will be supporting this initiative with continued freezie sales for the last week of school.  We will have freezie sales after school on Monday, June 23, and finally Wednesday, June 25 @ 2:30.   The money raised will go directly to supporting the Missions to the Northern church. Freezies will be $1.00.  Thank you in advance for your help.

  • Spirt Days

Spirit Days are a fun way to countdown to the end of the year!  The Grade 7 Leadership team has planned 3 Spirit days for the last week of school.  Students are encouraged to create special memories of the last week of school by wearing theme related clothes instead of the school uniform.  The three Spirit Days include:

    • My Choice  – Monday June 23
    • Twin Day – Tuesday June 24
    • Western Day – Wednesday June 25
  • Staffing Update

After 32 years of service at our school, as the Preschool Teacher, Thunder Club Supervisor and an EA, Miss Carol is leaving St. James and St. Ann’s.  Carol’s dedication to our school community has been truly remarkable.  We are grateful for her many years of devoted service and the positive impact she has had on so many students.  We wish her all of God’s Blessings on her future endeavours!
