  • Drop off / Pick up Lane Safety

    No Passing!

The safety of our students is our highest priority. We continue to see vehicles passing other cars in the pick-up and drop-off lane, which creates a serious safety concern and puts students at risk. Even if there is a delay in the pick up / drop off lane – please remember there is to be absolutely no passing stopped vehicles in the pick up / drop off lane.  We kindly remind all families to drive slowly, follow traffic procedures, and remain patient during pick-up and drop-off times. Thank you for your cooperation in helping keep our school community safe.

    Other important reminders:

If you are dropping off your children in the morning, please ensure that they are able to get out of the car independently, so that cars can move smoothly and efficiently through this area. If your children need assistance getting out of the car, please park in the parent parking lot.

When picking up students at the end of the day, please remind your child that you will be using the pick up lane and that they need to keep watch for your car. Students will be dismissed at 2:30 and students who are being picked up in the Pick Up Lane will be instructed to wait in the designated area. If your child is not in the waiting area when you pull up to the front of the line in the designated pick up area, parents will be asked to continue to drive through the lane and to either park in the parking lot or to drive around the block to re-enter the pickup lane. Please do not stop and/or leave your car in the pick up lane. We would like traffic in this lane to move efficiently for the benefit of everyone.

  • Special School Assembly

We will be having a special assembly at the school to celebrate the Epiphany!   The Grade 5 class has been working hard to rehearse an epiphany play that they would like to share with the school community.  The assembly is scheduled for Wednesday, January 14 at 11:00am.  Parents are invited to attend!

Note:  An early post of the Newsflash mistakenly listed the assembly time as 8:45.  This was incorrect.  The assembly time is 11:00am.  Apologies for any confusion.

  • Work Bee - TODAY -January 10

The January Work Bee will take place at the school this Saturday, January 10th, from 9am-2pm.  You may want to bring gloves for outside work. It would also be greatly appreciated if you could bring any small gardening tools, particularly a rake.  Please also bring a lunch for the mid-day break.  Thank you once again for all of your hard work to keep our school well maintained and beautiful!

All remaining Work Bee dates for this year have been uploaded to the School Calendar.

  • Uniform Consignment Sale

Did you know our school has a Uniform Consignment Program?  Families are welcome to donate gently used uniform pieces that no longer fit, and other parents may purchase them at a reduced cost. This is a wonderful way to recycle, save money, and support one another in our school community.

We will be having a uniform consignment sale on Friday, January 23 from 1-2.30 PM.

If you would like to donate items or browse what is available at other dates / times, please contact – consignment@stjameselementary.ca

  • Lost and Found

Please check out our Lost and Found !

As the weather changes and students begin bringing extra layers to school, we’d like to remind families to check our Lost and Found for any missing items.
