  • Care for Everyone in Our Common Home

Unfortunately, last month two of our students (Emily and Lucas) lost their mother Natalie to cancer. At a time like this, many people are at a loss of how to help. We have an amazing community here at St. James and St. Ann’s School and one of our EC members has worked with the Bilson family to find a need that our school community can come together to support.

By using the website called, “Take Them a Meal”, our school families can come together to arrange meals to be delivered to the Bilson family over the next month. Meals can either be homemade and dropped off or ordered through one of the supporting businesses to be delivered to their home.

Along with our thoughts and prayers we hope that a warm meal can help to heal the hurting hearts of the Bilson family.

By following the link provided below, you will be taken to the online meal schedule in which you can sign up for a day or two that your family is willing to help out.

Thank you in advance for your help. Any questions can be forwarded to Tasha Mijinke at tmijinke@outlook.com

  • Meet the Teacher Night

Meet the Teacher Night was held on Wednesday, September 6th.  At the meeting we talked about the importance of educating our children in a Catholic environment, the educational and spiritual goals of our school, and of course our new parking procedure. The teachers also provided a lot of important information in their class presentations. If you were unable to attend, we would like to encourage you to set up a time to speak your classroom teacher to ensure that you are up to date on all important matters pertaining to your child.

  • Taking Photos at School Events

In the Parent Handbook it states that if you are with your child on a school field trip and you are taking pictures,  you must be aware that if there are other children in the photo you may not post these pictures on any form of social media without the consent of the parents.  This also extends to other school events such as an assembly, school Mass, the Christmas musical, etc.  We need to be respectful of a parent’s wishes when it comes to posting photos or information about their child.

  • Comfort Kits and Id. Tags

This is just a reminder that the student comfort kits and the Id. tags are due back to their classroom teacher on Friday, September 15th.  The comfort kits will then be sorted and moved out with our other earthquake supplies.  Please make sure that you return these two very important items that make up part of our earthquake plan.

  • Work Bee on September 16

A small reminder for those who are participating in the work bee to bring gloves and gardening tools (rakes, shovels, etc). We share tools with St. John Brebeuf Secondary so it is helpful if you are able to bring some gardening tools from home.

  • Individual Photos

Individual student photos will be taken in the morning on Monday, September 11th.  Please note that your child must be in their full school uniform, including their sweater. If you are new to the school and do not have a full uniform we will do our best to supply a school sweater to your child. Retakes are on October 10th.

  • Important Information regarding Fun Night 2017:

We, as PFA, and parents of children at St. James and St. Ann’s, know how hectic back to school can be. In years past, we have always included a cake walk ticket with wristbands.

However, due to parents’ and kids’ crazy September to do lists, fewer and fewer cakes were being made, and thus available for the cake walk. So, this year, we have changed things up a bit. We are still including face painting, unlimited carnival games and inflatables, a new sand art picture for your child (or you, as it will be your child’s art), and we have increased the redemption tickets to 20.

  • List of the many exciting Fun Night events:

    • Adrenaline Rush Obstacle Course……..Inflatable
    • Classic Bouncy Castle (for the smaller tots)……….Inflatable
    • Many carnival games (including some new ones)
    • Sand Art
    • Face Painting
    • 5 Loonie tosses, for $10 Walmart Gift Cards
    • 1 Toonie toss, for adults only, for a $50 Liquor Store Gift Card
    • A lotto Board, for adults only
    • A Great Redemption Table
    • Silent Auction
    • Raffle

Concession, including our World Famous (or at least St. James and St. Ann’s famous) BBQ, cooked by none other than our wonderful teachers!!!!

And one of our most exciting new events…….’Who wants to get Mr. V super soaked?’, with our brand new ‘Pitch Burst’.

It’s as easy as hit the target, and our wonderful Principal will feel the nice, cool water fall squarely on his head. Hopefully it’s a nice day!!!

Tickets will be 1 ball for $1, or 3 for $2.

Any additional teachers who are brave enough to stand under the bucket, will be included with wristband, or tickets if no wristband is purchased. Will your teacher chance it?
