Thunder News Flash – April 1, 2023

Walkathon 2023 – May 5:  

Our biggest fundraiser of the year, Walkathon 2023, is coming up on Friday, May 5!  It is a Superhero theme! Information packages, including pledge sheets and envelopes were sent home to each family this past week.  This year a large portion of the money we raise is going toward creating more outdoor learning and fun spaces at our school. 

2 Ways to Collect Pledges: 

• IN PERSON using the pledge sheet & envelope provided (cash or cheque accepted and tax receipts are issued for donations of $25 or more) 
• ONLINE at  https://www.stjameselementary.ca/walkathon/(Visa, Mastercard and Amex accepted online and tax receipts are issued for donations of $25 or more) *Be sure to have them include the student’s name and grade in the notes of their donation.

We will have some great prizes that can be won, which will be announced in the coming month.  If you would like to donate a prize, please contact Brandy Harris at catsyte@hotmail.com.  Thank you for your consideration!

Together we can raise $25,000!  

The next Work Bee will take place at the school today – Saturday, April 1st from 9:00am – 2:00pm. This is a great way for parents to accumulate 5 hours towards their Parent Participation commitment.  Please bring gloves as well as any small, cordless gardening tools you are able to bring.  Your work around the school, both inside and outside, is much appreciated.

Track and field starts this week for Grades 3-5.

Typically, practices will be on Monday, Tuesday and Thursday from 2:45 – 4:00.  Dress for the weather and bring a labeled water bottle.  Please check the calendar regularly for updates.  Here is how the next few weeks will look:

The week of April 3^rd: Monday & Tuesday (no Thursday practice due to Holy Thursday)

The week of April 10^th: Tuesday & Thursday (no Monday practice due to Easter Monday)

The week of April 17^th: Monday & Tuesday (no Thursday practice due to student-led conferences)

St. Ann’s Preschool

St Ann’s Preschool is now accepting Registration for the 2023-2024 school year. Pick up registration packages at St. Ann’s Parish Office, 33333 Mayfair Ave, Abbotsford .

Our next early dismissal day for our monthly staff meeting will take place on Wednesday, April 5th.  As always, the students should bring a snack and lunch to school that day, and they will be dismissed at 12:55pm.

Please join our school community as we prepare for Easter with some important Holy Week activities.   Join us in the church at 11:00 for Stations of the Cross on Thursday, April 6th.  Also, we would love as many parents as possible to join us for the Last Supper in our school gym, also on Holy Thursday, April 6th at 1:15.  And a reminder that there is no school on Good Friday, April 7th, or on Easter Monday, April 10th.  We wish you all a blessed Holy Week.
