Principal's Message

  • MrsTSaskSt. James & St. Ann’s School is proud to be one of the 40 Catholic elementary schools that are a part of the Catholic Independent Schools of the Vancouver Archdiocese (CISVA). At St. James & St. Ann’s School we strive to provide a quality education to both boys and girls in Kindergarten through to Grade 7, in a Catholic setting. At our school we believe in educating the whole child, focusing on helping each child reach their full potential academically, spiritually, physically, socially and emotionally. In doing so we support students to build a strong foundation for life.

St. James & St. Ann’s School provides each child with an opportunity to shine by offering a variety of extra-curricular activities, as well as academic programs that are tailored to their needs. To meet the diverse needs of our student population we have Specialist Teachers who deliver the curriculum in French, Music, Technology and Learning Assistance, and a number of Special Education Assistants.  In each classroom teaching and learning are student centered, and the unique learning styles of the students are accounted for through differentiation of instruction, assessment for learning and project-based learning.  We are very excited to fully implement the redesigned curriculum during the 2016-2017 school year and know that this will also serve to tailor the educational experience of each child in an exciting and unique way.

Our Catholic faith is central to who we are, and it is so much more than just a class taught daily in each grade. Our faith permeates all that we do and is imbued across all curricular areas. From the classrooms, to the hallways, to the playground, our faith is joyfully proclaimed for all to see and hear.

St. James & St. Ann’s School is a vibrant learning community and a joy to be a part of. The students are creative, enthusiastic and caring young Catholic Christians who live out our school-wide belief system called The 3 Be’s by being Christ-like, responsible, and respectful. The staff of the school is the most talented and hard-working group of people that I have ever had the pleasure of working with. The parents work tirelessly to support their children and our school, and are eager to help out wherever they are needed.  The pastors of St. James Parish and St. Ann’s Parish shape the spiritual life of the students and staff, as do the pastors of the neighbouring parishes that support our school.

You can certainly see that it is an absolute joy for me to come to work each day! I hope that your experience when you walk through the doors of St. James & St. Ann’s School is equally as delightful, and that you feel a sense of welcome in being a part of our school family.

    God bless,

    Terri Sask
